The BoatI am just getting started on a new phase in my life where lifestyle, living, vehicles and just about everything is about to change quite drastically.

20 years ago I married a wonderful Filipina lady. At that time I had just started finding out about Permaculture. Our plan then was to eventually retire to Davao, Philippines, get some land, build a house and get it all set up according to Permaculture and Feng Shui principles. Ever since then we have been working and saving for the time when we can actually do it.

I am not an expert on Permaculture but am studying like crazy. I am also not a Feng Shui expert but I am fortunate in having a very good friend, Clif Sanderson, who is.

I retired a few years ago but still build and maintain web sites, mostly for friends. My wife will retire in a few years so its now up to me to get started on building our retirement home.

Our PierThis involves buying land, building a house, building a beach house, planning, designing and planting a few hectares of crops according to permaculture and Feng Shui principles, etc. I will also be building small boats if I have time and hope to show locals how permaculture can help them have enough to eat from their tiny farm lots if they are interested.

As this will involve a few projects I thought it would be a good idea to keep a record of progress and being a web developer, the obvious way to do it for me is to set up a web site that includes some way for others with similar interests to comment, make suggestions, etc.

I recently mentioned to friends that I was building a database of information on tropical plants and also on medicinal uses of tropical plants.  This stirred up a lot of interest so I have included a discussion forum which will be used to record the information and where everyone can share their own knowledge and ask questions. I hope you will join the discussion forums so we can share our experiences and learn from each other.
