Hey all

I am working 5-6 days a week for The Children Life Project with our main focus on building a compound in General Santos. Two of us plan to be there approximately the end of May. We already have a few contacts but knowledge is a wonderful thing. We are hoping for some land to be donated to us but we don't have confirmation yet. We have our own block making equipment for some of the building and some help in Funding. Anybody there have suggestions?

Take a look at the website, http://www.childrenlifeproject.org wade thru to overseas, then Philippine Outreach or Mindanao Center

Thanks
Chris

I have been trying to get them to change the web page but so far no luck.

Be sure you have people who can deal with city hall and the barangay for permits, etc.

I just got a text message from the city engineers telling me to stop all development because my brother in law who is managing the work does not show enough respect for City Hall!

I just looked at the site and see why you want it changed. You may want to pass on my immediate reaction:

I have been a professional web developer since 1995 and this is one of the worst sites I have seen in terms of getting traffic. The jazzy graphics intro is annoying and totally inappropriate. Search engines hate fancy flash intros so very few people will ever find the site via search engines where most of your traffic should come from.

People using the web want the info they are looking for instantly and it should be easy to find anything on the site. If you shove fancy graphics in their face most people will just click the back button. People visit to get information not to watch jazzy intros. This is a site to show off what the developer can do. Not a site to get visitors and get listed effectively on search engines.

Anyone with a slow connection will get fed up even looking at the pages as they will have to wait for the very slow pictures to load (and then put up with flashing graphics)

They are also using frames. This is also very bad for search engines as very often anything in a frame is not included in the search results. Frames are rarely used these days except for in house pages like control panels etc that are not available to the public. Click any of the menu items on the home page and the search engines will mostly only see the little bit of code that surrounds the real info that would help you get listed.

Hey Frank

I was hoping for a reaction like you gave. I will definitely pass on your quote. I don't like to give out the web page because I dislike it very much. It is quite cheesy. If anyone else feels the same, please let me know.

Thanks
Chris
